Invoice for stores consumed on the Amazone, signed by La Pérouse, and portraits of La Pérouse, 1779-1828.

The invoice for stores consumed on the Amazone, signed by La Pérouse, and portraits of La Pérouse is an intentionally assembled collection featuring a manuscript inventory (in French) of goods used for outfitting the frigate between the 1st of January to the 15 February, 1779. This account, submitted by Goyon de Mallèvre, is signed in approval by La Pérouse in his capacity as shipmaster. Also included is an undated manuscript transcription and English translation of the text of the original French document. The remainder of the collection consists of fourteen portraits of La Pérouse, most of which appear to be plates removed from books. Another print in the collection, entitled "Vanikoro" depicts naval officer, Jules Dumont d'Urville, dedicating a monument to the late explorer before his own crew and natives from the island. The materials in this collection, including the English translation of the inventory, may have been compiled by the noted La Pérouse collector, Edward Weber Allen.
